We have taken the work out of comparison shopping for you. Below are the ingredient lists of several different brands of Cat foods. If you are feeding, or thinking of feeding any of these formulas, please read the ingredients and see if they can stack up against our Life’s Abundance Premium Cat Food.

We also ask you to consider what is not listed on the label. There is more to a pet food than just a pretty bag and ingredient lists. There are questions of Quality Control, Cleanliness in Manufacturing, Freshness, Quality of individual ingredients, and more.

As you read through these labels ask yourself, “What is not in the ingredients that should be?” You will notice that we have provided you with some important criteria.

CRITERIA #1: Things Your Pet Food Should Not Contain

1. Chemical Preservatives - BHA, BHT, Ethoxyquin
2. Corn - known allergen, poor source of protein, highly indigestible
3. Wheat - same as above
4. Soy - same as above
5. By-Products - indigestible beaks, feathers, feet, heads, etc. Does not have to contain meat
6. Beef Tallow - hard, indigestible fat source
7. Flour - of any kind, used as a filler
8. Pentobarbital - from tainted meat sources. Same chemical used in euthanizing animals

CRITERIA #2: Things Your Pet Food Should Contain

1. Whole Foods - Apples, carrots, spinach, etc.
2. Live Probiotics - micro encapsulated friendly bacteria, supports intestinal health
3. Chelated Minerals - scientifically proven to be 40% better absorbed
4. Natural Preservative –vitamin E, not just “mixed tocopherols” - a source of vitamin E
5. Grape Seed Extract - very potent anitoxidant source
6. Hormone and Steroid Free Meat - Your pet is eating the same food day in and day out. A little exposure every day adds up to a lot!
7. Chicken MEAL - not just chicken. Chicken MEAL is the best cut of the meat

CRITERIA #3: Overall Integrity and Quality of the Product

When choosing a pet food, always ask these important questions.

What kind of facility is being used to manufacture my pets food? Is it USDA certified? What is the acceptable level of cleanliness for things like bacteria levels?

Life’s Abundance is made in a USDA certified plant that is family owned. Our supplements are made in a human pharmaceutical plant. Our treats are made in a human bakery.

How fresh is my product when I get it? Has it been sitting around in some warehouse or truck that is dirty and not climate controlled? Would I rather feed my pet fresh ingredients, or not so fresh ingredients?

Life’s Abundance is made in Micro Batches. We make fresh food every 5 weeks instead of warehousing old food. Your order will never arrive any later than 6 weeks after being made, and usually within 4 weeks. Our foods are shipped straight to your door and are not exposed to many differing environments.

Where do the individual ingredients of my pets food come from? Are they human grade ingredients like I would eat, or are they the left over - tainted ingredients that cannot be sold for human consumption? Am I assured that each individual ingredient of my pets food has not been pre-preserved with chemicals by the time my pet food company receives it?

Our formulator, Dr. Jane Bicks, has rigid standards for everything that goes into her Life’s Abundance formulations. We only use ingredients that are fit for human consumption. That is why we use only steroid and hormone free chicken and also why we farm raise our own fish without the use of antibiotics.

How can I be assured of who is telling the truth out there? Are there any ways to verify that a pet food company is everything they claim to be?

Life’s Abundance pet foods are made in accordance with AAFCO feeding protocols. Our manufacturing facility is a USDA certified APHIS (Animal Plant Health Inspection Service) plant. APHIS certification allows the sale a of finished product to the International market, including the European market, which has extremely high standards on ingredient sources. Under APHIS certification, the plant and ingredient facilities are routinely inspected.

Furthermore, Dr. Jane Bicks, our product formulator, makes herself available every Thursday evening on a live conference call. Anyone can join in on the call and ask whatever they would like about our products. This level of integrity, openness, and honesty is unheard of in the pet food industry.
